What Is A Trigger Point?

Muscles in our body are made up of individual cells known as fibers that are bundled together. These muscle fibers fire and contract the muscle and then release allowing movement in the body.

Specific causes of Trigger Points can include, but are not limited to, trauma, overuse, repetitive straining, or alignment imbalances that create fatigued and strained muscle fibers. The burden on the body creates painful knots and nodules in the muscle fibers that can lead to more severe and chronic issues.

Trigger Point Injections

  • Trigger point injections are used to treat multiple painful conditions in the body, such as sciatica, jaw pain, neck pain and shoulder pain. Trigger point injections are used to inactivate pain signals in the body through the release of endorphins.
  • Trigger point injections are a quick and efficient way to help get rid of pain in an outpatient setting to get you back to doing the things you love.
  • The trigger points are located by a physician and with the help of diagnostic ultrasound are administered in our office. Local anesthetics may be applied to make the injection and procedure more comfortable for the patient.
